Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) has introduced SB 1184 to ensure California students get the behavioral support they need.

Sacramento, Calif. – On February, 17 2022 Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) introduced SB 1173 that would prohibit the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) from investing in fossil fuel companies, and require that they divest any current investments by 2027. Moving away from these types of investments will help advance California’s climate change goals by divesting from carbon emitting companies.

Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) introduced Senate Bill 1255, a measure that establishes a dishwasher grant program to reduce waste in K–12 schools and community colleges to address the state’s single-use trash and waste crisis.

(SACRAMENTO) – Senator Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) introduced SB 1162 to help close the wage gap by requiring the disclosure of salary ranges on all job postings, and to make employer internal promotional opportunities available to current employees. SB 1162 also requires companies to publically report pay data broken down by race, ethnicity, and sex for both direct employees and employees hired through a third-party staffing agency.

Senator Durazo Introduces Legislation to Require Equity for California’s Climate Action

Senator Durazo has introduced SB 1095, legislation for Equity in Climate Action, which would require that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) assess the social and economic impacts of any proposed adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule or regulation that will significantly affect air quality or emissions limitations in the state.

SACRAMENTO —  With the use of biometric information in technology expanding, State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) today introduced a bill to broaden the definition of biometric information to increase privacy protection for California consumers.

Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) has introduced SB 1170 to ensure small school and community college districts, and their financial stability, are less disproportionately impacted by recall petitions that require a comparatively low signature threshold. SB 1170 is sponsored by the Small School Districts Association.
