Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, today unveiled “The Fair Pay to Play Act,” which seeks to help level the playing field for college athletes in California by allowing them to sign sponsorship deals and receive other compensation, much like Olympic athletes are now allowed to do. The act is also designed to help lift collegiate athletes out of poverty.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) introduced legislation to expand asthma preventive services to low-income families.

SB 207 would allow Medi-Cal reimbursement for asthma education and home trigger assessments that are provided by qualified, non-licensed professionals including community health workers. Moreover, the bill would increase financial support for environmental asthma trigger remediation in the home.

Sacramento, CA – February 4, 2019 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) today introduced a bill to stop illegal robocall scams known as “neighbor spoofing” whereby scammers attempt to trick consumers into answering calls from imposters posing as local callers. SB 208 sets a deadline for telecommunications providers to take the steps necessary to stop these illegal scams, while also ensuring that the CPUC can collaborate with the California Attorney General’s Office to support action against illegal robocallers.

The Trail, envisioned by Sen. McGuire’s landmark law SB 1029, turns the crumbling 300-mile North Coast railroad line into the Great Redwood Trail.
