SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, made the following comment today on the announcement that PG&E would pursue bankruptcy protection:

“I’m disappointed that PG&E's hubris and mismanagement have led to this unfortunate point,” said Sen. Dodd. “While the CEO has resigned, there must be further change on the board of directors. Now, the Public Utility Commission’s priority must be to protect ratepayers and residents. And above all, PG&E must be held to safety mandates.”

San Francisco –  Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) issued the following statement in reaction to PG&E’s announcement that it will file for bankruptcy:

“Governor Newsom just released a budget proposal that is visionary, yet prudent – and proved himself a true policy wonk. He walked a careful line between providing a foundation for progress, without running the risk of overspending. I commend him for proposing that we pay down our pensions to help schools, and agree that we are at a moment of great opportunity to make thoughtful reforms to our tax system.”

Today, State Senator Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley), issued the following statement: “As I expected Governor Newsom stepped in from day one with his hand on the pulse of the need for a fiscally sound but also responsive state budget. Any thought that our new Governor would not be paying attention to the bottom line was countered today.
