SACRAMENTO — Senator Henry Stern, Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, Assemblymember Christy Smith, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and Assemblymember Richard Bloom today issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s comments regarding FEMA emergency aid:

(SACRAMENTO) – Senator Richard D. Roth shared his plan for a greater investment in the health and wellness of Inland Southern California. Senate Bill 56 will provide a one-time appropriation for the construction of a new University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine facility with an additional investment for ongoing support. Assemblymembers Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) and Jose Medina (D-Riverside) are both principal co-authors of the bill.

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tem Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) announced the appointment of the following individuals to the Community College Student Success Funding Formula Oversight Committee:

SACRAMENTO – In order to clarify the appropriate use of political funds to pay for legal expenses, Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) today introduced legislation to prohibit legal defense funds and campaign funds from being used to pay for or reimburse a candidate or elected official for legal fees associated with violations of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, including sexual harassment.

SACRAMENTO—Today, Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), along with Sen. Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg), introduced SB 66, legislation with bipartisan support that allows community health centers to bill Medi-Cal for two visits if a patient is provided mental-health services on the same day they receive other medical services.

Atkins (D-San Diego) and Senators Bill Dodd (D-Napa), Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara), Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) and Henry Stern (D-Canoga Park) issued the following statement commending Governor Newsom for his actions today on emergency preparedness and response:

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, commended Gov. Gavin Newsom today for a slate of new disaster prevention and preparedness measures that will build on recent legislation to protect Californians from the growing threat of wildfires.

“The governor and I have talked about wildfire safety and today’s actions show he is making it a priority,” Sen. Dodd said. “I look forward to working with him on these new safeguards.”
