California Privacy Law Passes Senate Committee; Headed to Senate Floor

SACRAMENTO – Senators Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) and Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) today announced that their comprehensive privacy legislation, AB 375, passed the Senate Judiciary Committee and is on track to be voted on in both the Senate and Assembly Floors on Thursday, June 28.

Sacramento–  Today the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee passed Senate Bill 822, which Senator Scott Wiener introduced to restore net neutrality in California. The version of SB 822 passed by committee today was on that had all the major protections removed from it last week in the Assembly Communications and Conveyance Committee.

Bill Would Extend Insurance Relief for One Year to All Homeowners in a Disaster Area

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Today the Assembly Judiciary Committee approved SB 824, the Wildlife Safety and Recovery Act by an 8-0 vote to prohibit insurance companies from cancelling or not renewing a homeowner’s policy for one year if they live in an area with a declared state of emergency.

SB 824 extends protections that currently exist for homeowners who lose property in a fire or disaster to their neighbors whose homes survive.
