Senate Bill 1402 would allow California to hold major retailers liable when trucking companies break labor laws

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Senate approved Senate Bill 1402, authored by Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) to end the rampant exploitation of truck drivers who haul cargo from California’s ports.

SACRAMENTO ­– This week, Senate Bill 1294, the Cannabis Collaboration and Inclusion Act, was approved on the Senate Floor. This bill, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), will guide the formation and development of California’s first statewide cannabis equity program, while supporting local jurisdictions such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento that have established local equity programs.

SACRAMENTO – Senate Bill 1023, a bill which would expand access to sexual and reproductive health services by ensuring coverage of telehealth, moved out of the Senate Wednesday by a bipartisan vote of 24-5.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Legislature approved two bills in separate votes today that extend health coverage to all residents age 65 and over and 25 and under who qualify for low-income assistance -- including the state’s undocumented residents.

Sacramento, CA – Today, the State Senate unanimously approved a measure by Fullerton Senator Josh Newman that would allow military families who relocate to California to drive for Transportation Network Companies, like Lyft and Uber, with a valid out-of-state driver’s license.  Currently, TNC drivers in California must possess a California driver’s license, creating obstacles for military families who wish to participate in the rideshare economy.
