Sacramento, CA – June 6, 2018 – The third annual California Nonprofits Day was celebrated today at the State Capitol in Sacramento, honoring organizations statewide as Nonprofits of the Year. Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) recognized Casa Familiar, a community development agency in San Ysidro, as the 40th Senate District’s honoree.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Pacific Wildlife Care was honored as the 17th Senate District Nonprofit of the Year by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel).  Pacific Wildlife Care is the only licensed rehabilitation center in San Luis Obispo County that cares for injured birds, mammals, and reptiles.

The bill, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), clarifies what information employers may use when screening job applicants. SB 1412 continues the progress that the Legislature and Governor Brown began last year to provide more formerly-incarcerated Californians with a real opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Sacramento, California– SB 1266 passed the California State Senate. The author, Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, proposed SB 1266 to protect communities from residential burglaries by requiring ankle monitoring as a condition of payroll.
