SACRAMENTO ­– Today the California State Senate passed an on-time, record budget that includes the highest investment in school funding, the biggest reserves in a generation and investments in climate adaptation, fire prevention and transportation improvements.

SACRAMENTO – The California Senate today passed a state budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year that begins on July 1, 2018.

“We have recovered from the dark days of the recession, and now the state’s fiscal outlook is the strongest it’s been in a generation,” said Senate Leader Toni Atkins (D-San Diego).

Sacramento, CA - June 14, 2018 - Senator Ben Hueso announced today that the State Legislature passed a balanced and on-time 2018-19 State Budget. As the fifth largest economy in the world, this budget continues our economic progress while planning for future economic uncertainties by setting aside the maximum financial reserve the law allows.

Sacramento, California- Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D-La Canada Flintridge) Chair of Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee No. 1 on Education issued the following statement on the Senate Budget 

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) joined education leaders to praise budget investments that support immigrant students in California’s public colleges and universities.

The budget includes $21 million in funding for the University of California, California State University, and the California Community Colleges to provide legal services for undocumented and immigrant students.

Sacramento, CA – Following up on previous commitments, Senators McGuire and Dodd along with Assemblywoman Aguiar-Curry and Supervisor Susan Gorin will be hosting a comprehensive community workshop on the findings of the site assessment survey focused on the Sonoma Developmental Center’s buildings, infrastructure, open space, wildlife and history.

The State Department of General Services will be bringing in the consultants – WRT – who have been conducting the assessment.

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) today announced the following changes to Senate standing committees. Designated committee chairs and membership will be formally adopted by the Senate Rules Committee when it convenes later today - June 14, 2018.
