(SACRAMENTO) – In an 8 to 0 vote, SB 1238 – authored by Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) – cleared the Senate Health Committee. The Medical Records Protection Act establishes a patient’s right to access their medical records before they are destroyed.

Senator Hill Introduces Legislation to Prohibit Housing Discrimination Against U.S. Armed Forces Veterans and Military Personnel

April 4, 2018

State Senator Jerry Hill introduced legislation today to prohibit housing discrimination against U.S. military veterans and individuals currently serving in the nation’s armed forces. U.S. veterans and military personnel are protected from employment discrimination by the California Fair Employment and Housing Act. However, the law does not specifically include veterans or military personnel among those who are protected from housing discrimination. Senator Hill’s SB 1427 would address that gap.

Sacramento – California has over 2,000 independent special districts that operate a slew of vital services for millions of Californians, such as water, wastewater, fire protection, parks, and transit. However, less than half of all special districts have websites. This presents a significant transparency gap for the millions who are served by these districts.
