SACRAMENTO –Dr. Richard pan has introduced SB 1303 to ensure autopsies are conducted only by licensed physicians and forensic autopsy reports are accurate and unbiased.

“I have introduced SB 1303 because autopsy reports provide critical information in determining the cause and manner of death and we must have the confidence in their accuracy,” said Dr. Pan, a pediatrician and Senator representing the Sacramento region. “The public and juries need to trust that they will receive accurate and objective information to make the correct verdict on a criminal case.”

Education Budget Sub-Committee Chair Unveils Budget Proposal to Increase Local Control Funding Formula for K-12 Districts

Sacramento, California- Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, Chairman of the Senate Budget Sub-Committee on Education and Senators Ben Allen, D-Santa Monica, Steve Glazer, D—Orinda, Jerry Hill, D—San Mateo, and the Santa Clara Counties introduced a budget proposal to add $1.2 billion dollars to Governor Brown’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The proposal assumes that the 2018-2019 budget includes the full funding of LCFF plus an addition $1.2 billion.

Drivers would be able to Choose their License Photo under SB 1407

Sacramento, CA - Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) introduced SB 1407 on Friday, to allow drivers to choose the photo which goes on their California state driver’s license. SB 1407 would allow drivers to take more than one photo when they are at the Department of Motor Vehicles with an additional fee assessed for each additional photo taken. The licensee would then be able to select from the photos taken to decide which photo will be placed on their California Driver’s License.

State Senator Jerry Hill introduced legislation today to drive home the point to young people that it’s illegal to consume marijuana and get behind the wheel. SB 1273 establishes a zero-tolerance policy for individuals under 21 who drive under the influence of marijuana, and mirrors existing law for young adults and minors who drive under the influence of alcohol.
