Roth, a retired two-star Air Force general who authored critical legislation to bring the project to California, calls the project a “smart investment” in economy and national security

RIVERSIDE, CA  -- Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) praised the Department of Defense and United States Air Force’s selection today of Northrop Grumman Corp to build the Air Force’s new strategic bomber aircraft in California.

Sen. Bob Hertzberg, author of the bill Gov. Brown signed into law last month to improve court access by eliminating the requirement that all fines and penalties be paid before a driver can get a court hearing on a traffic ticket, today released the following statement in response to today’s action by Attorney General Kamala Harris:

Senator recognized for her work on End of Life Option Act
SACRAMENTO –A statewide nonprofit dedicated to advocating for California’s seniors honored Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) today for her work on the End of Life Option Act and other senior issues.

Sacramento – Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) will join students and staff at a special ribbon- cutting ceremony for the debut of the La Merced Intermediate School drought-tolerant garden on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at 215 E. Avenida De La Merced, Montebello, CA 90640. 
Senator Mendoza will also give special certificates of recognition to all the students and staff who participated in creating the drought-tolerant garden.

SACRAMENTO – San Fernando Valley residents are invited to discuss looming transportation needs on Monday, Oct. 26.
Titled Transportation Summit 2015 and sponsored by Sen. Bob Hertzberg, the Valley Economic Alliance and the Valley Industry and Commerce Association, the event will be held at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys.  The summit theme is “It’s Our Turn: The Valley’s Unmet Transportation Needs.”

San Fernando Valley residents are invited to discuss community issues on Thursday, Oct. 22 at a “community briefing” sponsored by Sens. Bob Hertzberg and Fran Pavley.
The review of quality-of-life concerns will be held at the Tarzana Hospital Women’s Pavilion. Guest speakers will focus on key issues such as transportation, water and emergency preparedness.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will last about two hours.

VAN NUYS -- The recent closure of I-5 due to mudslides from heavy rains amply demonstrated how vulnerable Southern California is to extreme weather events.

Los Angeles – The state Senate’s Environmental Quality Committee held its third regional hearing of the year on how local agencies are planning to adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change today at the Ronald Reagan State Building.
“Obviously it’s a huge and complex topic and you have provided us with an important overview,” said Senator Bob Wieckowski, the committee’s chair, speaking to those who testified at the hearing.
