The California Senate Subcommittee on Gas, Electric and Transportation Safety, chaired by state Senator Jerry Hill, and the Assembly Accountability and Administrative Review Committee, chaired by Assemblymember Rudy Salas, will hold a joint oversight hearing, “Dangerous Digs: Why Do Fatal Pipeline Accidents Persist?” The hearing follows the fatal “dig-in” accident November 13, when one person died and two suffered severe burns just south of Bakersfield after a PG&E natural gas pipeline was struck and ruptured during a project to put in a new orchard.

It's an amazing achievement when almost all of the participating 195 countries can gain consensus on a plan to address one of the most important issues of our lifetime — global climate change.
