SACRAMENTO – With access to abortion care more critical than ever, the California State Senate today passed Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins’ (D-San Diego) SB 1375, legislation to allow qualified nurse practitioners to provide abortions without the supervision of a physician. The bill passed by a vote of 31-9.

Sen. Dodd: Governor Signs Mobile Pharmacy Van Bill

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to authorize the creation of mobile pharmacy vans to bring medication and counseling to California’s hard-to-reach communities, improving health for homeless people and many others who have inadequate access to care.

Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will ensure the state’s presidential electors cast ballots for candidates who win the popular vote and do not instead switch candidates or abstain from voting.

California Legislature Passes Mandatory Kindergarten Bill by Senator Susan Rubio

SACRAMENTO – The California Senate today passed an education bill by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that ensures all children receive critical instruction in their earliest years of learning.

Senate Bill 70 requires all students to complete one year in kindergarten before entering first grade so that each child is prepared socially and academically before entering elementary school. Currently, parents are able to have their child skip kindergarten.
