Sacramento – Senator Loni Hancock today called for action to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision on its 5th anniversary (January 21, 2015).

“Today marks a sad day in American history,” she said.  “The Supreme Court decision undermines American democracy by allowing corporations – including foreign corporations – to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence American election campaigns, without having it publicly reported.”

Senator Roth Introduces Bill to Streamline, Modernize CEQA

Senator Richard D. Roth (D-Riverside) announced today that he has introduced a bill, jointly authored by Senators Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and Jerry Hill (D-San Mateo), to streamline and modernize the environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Senate Bill 122 would make the environmental review process under CEQA more efficient while preserving informed environmental decision-making.

Sacramento, CAState Senator Mike McGuire is pleased to announce that the Capital Fellows Program is now open for Northern California applicants.  McGuire currently has a Capital Fellow in his office, Chris Nielsen, who is from Novato, CA.
The program features a select group of graduate-level students from across the country who participate in a ten month program, working daily on issues critical to the State’s legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
