SACRAMENTO – On the first day of the new legislative session, Senator Jim Beall, D-San Jose, introduced bills to increase funding for freeway maintenance and litter removal, and bolster police training to increase officer safety while dealing with people with mental health illnesses.SB 11, a spot bill undergoing preparation for legislative language, focuses on adding more hours to the training of police recruits that will help them defuse potentially volatile encounters with people with mental health disorders.

Hueso to serve new term on the Senate for the 2015-2016 legislative session
(Sacramento, CA) – In a ceremony at the State Capitol on Monday, December 1st, 2014, Senator Ben Hueso took the oath of office for the 2015-2016 Legislative Session, a new term on the Senate for Hueso. Senate session was called to order by Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and remarks were delivered by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León and Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff. 

Senator Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo/Santa Clara counties, introduced five bills today covering a range of issues, including consumer protection, greater transparency of travel by elected officials and privacy safeguards.

Sacramento – Dr. Richard Pan, a pediatrician and small business owner, who continues to practice medicine at a community clinic in Oak Park while serving the people of the Sacramento region in the State Assembly since 2010, was joined by his family today as he was sworn in as the State Senator representing the 6th District, including the cities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, and West Sacramento and parts of Sacramento County.  

Entries are being accepted for Senator Jerry Hill’s seventh annual “Oughta Be A Law…Or Not” contest for bill ideas from constituents. Hill, D-San Mateo/Santa Clara Counties, announced the 2015 bill idea contest today and encouraged Peninsula and Silicon Valley residents to participate.

(Sacramento, CA) – During a November 20 quarterly meeting, the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) approved approximately $26 million in grants to help restore and protect fish and wildlife habitats throughout California. The funds for all these projects come from bond initiatives approved by voters to help preserve and protect California's natural resources. The approved grants include $3.3 million for Salton Sea species and habitat conservation.

Senator Hueso will be distributing turkeys to over 1,000 families in need throughout Senate District 40. Donations kindly provided by Northgate Market, Food 4 Less, Tapatio Auto and Truck Wrecking, Inc., Vazquez Truckline, and Otay Auto Auction.

(San Diego, CA) – This Tuesday, November 25, Senator Ben Hueso will host his fourth annual “Turkey Club” giveaway at Barrio Logan MAAC Project and South Bay Community Services in Chula Vista. Senator Hueso will be distributing turkeys to over 1,000 families in need throughout Senate District 40.
