Caltrans Releases Final Coronado Bridge Physical Suicide Deterrent System Feasibility Study Report

San Diego, CA – June 7, 2018 – Caltrans District 11 has issued its Final Coronado Bridge Physical Suicide Deterrent System Feasibility Study Report, which determined that there are a number of physical suicide deterrent systems that could be suitable for the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, including netting, fencing and glass barriers. Senator Hueso Announces $2.5 Million Grant for New Geothermal Project

Imperial Valley, CA – May 4, 2018 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-Imperial County) today announced a $2.5 million grant for a new geothermal project by EnergySource Minerals, LLC titled “Well to Wheels Lithium Design” located in Imperial Valley. The project will greatly benefit the local economy and community, and may create a domestic source of lithium and other minerals to help meet California’s growing demand for electric grid stabilization and electric vehicle components.

California Announces Intent to Sue Federal Government for Failure to Contain Cross-Border Pollution at the Tijuana River Valley

San Diego, CA – May 14, 2018 – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced that the State has issued a 60-day notice of intent to sue the US Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) for violations of the Clean Water Act. The decision comes after Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) called upon the Governor and Attorney General to enter into a lawsuit against the USIBWC for its failure to adequately address cross-border pollution at the Tijuana River Valley.

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Bill Advances in State Senate

April 26, 2018

Sacramento, CA – April 26, 2018 – A bill authored by California State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) that would impose greater reporting requirements on the State with regards to childhood lead exposure has received the unanimous approval of the Senate Health Committee, an important step in ensuring appropriate case management data related to children who have been exposed to lead. Senate Bill No. 1097 cleared the policy committee yesterday with a 9-0 vote and now advances to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Bill Encouraging Coastal Stewardship Passes Key Policy Committee

State Senate Passes Senator Hueso’s Elder Abuse Legislation
