San Diego, CA – April 11, 2018 – In light of today’s decision by Governor Brown to accept federal funding to add approximately 400 California National Guard members statewide, Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), Chair of the Latino Legislative Caucus, issued the following statement:

San Diego, CA – March 16, 2018 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) today introduced a resolution in the California State Legislature calling on Governor Jerry Brown’s Administration to initiate a lawsuit against the federal government for its failure to properly address the flow of raw sewage and wastewater that continually pours over the border from Tijuana into San Diego County.

Sacramento, CA – March 7, 2018 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, today issued the following statement in response to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ announcement that he has filed a federal lawsuit against the State of California over three of its “sanctuary state” laws:

San Diego, CA – February 9, 2018 – Senator Hueso (40th District) and City of San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer held a joint press conference today to highlight Sen. Hueso’s legislation, Senate Bill 635, which was sponsored by the City of San Diego, and will provide state assistance to communities designated as federal “Promise Zones” in their efforts to receive critical federal revitalization resources.

Imperial Valley, CA – December 8, 2017 – The California Natural Resources Agency today issued a Request for Information (RFI) focused on the importation of water to the Salton Sea. The purpose of this RFI is to attract new ideas that will complement current statewide recovery efforts.

The RFI can be found on the Natural Resource Agency’s website at: http://resources.ca.gov/salton-sea/. The submission period is open through March 9, 2018.

San Diego, CA – September 13, 2017 – A bill authored by Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) and Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) that would instruct the director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to establish an international trade and investment office in Mexico has passed both houses of the state legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support, and is now heading to the Governor’s office for his signature or veto.
