Bill to Expand Workers’ Compensation for Peace Officers Introduced in CA State Senate

State Senate Bill Aims to Close Curtain on Circus Cruelty in California

Los Angeles, CA – February 19, 2019 – A new bill introduced today in the California State Senate would make it illegal to use or allow the use of wild and exotic animals in traveling acts.

The Circus Cruelty Prevention Act (Senate Bill No. 313), authored by State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), recognizes both the animal welfare concerns, and public safety concerns of circuses and other traveling shows that force wild or exotic animals to perform.

Robocall Bill Introduced in State Senate

February 4, 2019

Sacramento, CA – February 4, 2019 – Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) today introduced a bill to stop illegal robocall scams known as “neighbor spoofing” whereby scammers attempt to trick consumers into answering calls from imposters posing as local callers. SB 208 sets a deadline for telecommunications providers to take the steps necessary to stop these illegal scams, while also ensuring that the CPUC can collaborate with the California Attorney General’s Office to support action against illegal robocallers.
