State Enacts Annual California Farmworker Day

SACRAMENTO – California is home to roughly 800,000 farmworkers who play a vital role in maintaining our food supply and whose work is more critical than ever during the pandemic. Now, with the enactment of Senator Ben Hueso’s (D-San Diego) SB 721, the state will formally recognize these contributions each year on August 26 as part of the newly-established California Farmworker Day.

California Grants Access to Medical Cannabis in Hospitals for Terminally-Ill Patients

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today signed legislation by Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) expanding end-of-life treatment options for Californians by requiring that hospitals and certain types of healthcare facilities in the state allow terminally-ill patients to use medical cannabis for treatment and/or pain relief.

California Poised to Create Annual Farmworker Day

SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate yesterday unanimously approved Senator Ben Hueso’s (D-San Diego) bill to designate August 26th of each year as “California Farmworker Day.”

“Despite the undeniable and innumerable benefits that farmworkers’ provide our state, their labor often goes unrecognized,” said Sen. Hueso. “Farmworkers are absolutely vital to California, and to our entire world. It’s beyond time we memorialize our gratitude with an annual day of recognition.”
