SACRAMENTO – Sens. Ricardo Lara and Holly J. Mitchell today introduced a package of bills to keep young children out of the juvenile justice system and fix longstanding inequity for youth and adults.

The two Los Angeles-area Senate leaders are joint authors on bills that together seek major justice reforms for juveniles and adults.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sens. Ricardo Lara and Holly Mitchell will hold a press conference on Monday, March 20, at a Sacramento elementary school to discuss a package of bills aimed at keeping young children out of the juvenile justice system and fixing inequity for youth and adults.

They will also kick off the 50th anniversary marking the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that extended Miranda rights to young people accused of crimes.

SACRAMENTO – Implicit bias and its impact on women and the work place and in life will be highlighted Wednesday when Sen. Holly J. Mitchell convenes researchers, impacted individuals and social-change makers to work on gender inequality.

The convening is jointly hosted by the Senate Select Committee on Women and Inequality and the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.
