Sen. Mitchell made these comments April 30, 2019, during a hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee, which approved the measure 7-2. Senate Bill 329 would amend the Fair Employment and Housing Act  to clarify that housing vouchers are included within California’s prohibition on discrimination based on source of income. This renter-protection bill would help California address its growing homelessness crisis, provide opportunity to families in poverty and help ensure the state can take full advantage of available federal funding.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Bipartisan legislation to protect Californians, especially children, from jewelry tainted with highly toxic heavy metals sailed through a key committee Wednesday.

The Senate Environmental Quality Committee unanimously passed SB 647, the Safe Jewelry Act, sending the legislation to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.
