California Medical Association Removes Opposition to Physician Aid in Dying Bill

SACRAMENTO – Today SB 128: The End of Life Option Act, by Senators Wolk and Monning, passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on a 5-2 vote. The bill had been placed on the suspense file for a routine fiscal impact assessment and was released today with a number of other bills.

Bipartisan Measure to Bring Federal Funding for School Services Moves Ahead

SACRAMENTO—SB 276, a measure by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) that would allow Local Educational Agencies (LEA) to receive reimbursement for all services provided to all Medi-Cal eligible students, including; school nursing services, mental health and counseling services, and physical therapy and speech therapy services, secured passage from the Senate Floor today with a 37-0 vote.

State Senate passes campus gun safety bill

Law enforcement backed bill limits concealed weapons on school and college campuses
SACRAMENTO -- Legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to help control concealed weapons on school and college campuses passed the State Senate today on a 23-12 vote.  The measure, SB 707, would prohibit concealed weapons carriers from bringing their firearm on campus without permission from campus authorities.

Agriculture Climate Benefits Act passes off Senate Floor with bipartisan support

SB 367 recognizes the need for agricultural solutions to climate change
SACRAMENTO – A measure by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis), one of eleven bills that make up the Senate’s California Climate Leadership package secured passage from the Senate today on a bipartisan 33-2 vote. SB 367 ensures that California’s farmers have maximum opportunities to voluntarily reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by developing projects and on-farm practices that would also provide environmental and health benefits.
