Bill requires minimum two–person train crews
SACRAMENTO—Legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to protect communities along rail lines by requiring trains and light engines carrying freight within California to be operated with an adequate crew size for public safety reasons secured passage from the Senate last Thursday on a bipartisan 23-11 vote.

Amendments exempt honorably retired peace officers from campus ban
SACRAMENTO -- Legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to help control concealed weapons on school and college campuses has earned broad support from law enforcement groups after recent amendments retained the current ability of honorably retired officers to carry a concealed firearm on campus grounds.

Senator Wolk calls position change a major breakthrough
SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Medical Association (CMA) announced it has become one of the first state medical associations in the nation to remove its historic opposition to physician aid-in-dying. With this announcement, the organization has now officially taken a neutral position on SB 128 - The End of Life Option Act (Wolk). 

Bill Passes out of Senate Appropriations on a 5-2 vote
SACRAMENTO – Today SB 128: The End of Life Option Act, by Senators Wolk and Monning, passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on a 5-2 vote. The bill had been placed on the suspense file for a routine fiscal impact assessment and was released today with a number of other bills. 

Bill passes off the Senate Floor with Unanimous Support
SACRAMENTO—SB 276, a measure by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) that would allow Local Educational Agencies (LEA) to receive reimbursement for all services provided to all Medi-Cal eligible students, including; school nursing services, mental health and counseling services, and physical therapy and speech therapy services, secured passage from the Senate Floor today with a 37-0 vote.

Water measures focused on water, energy efficiency and drinking water for all
SACRAMENTO – Three water measures focused on efficiency and equity by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) passed off of the Senate Floor today.  These measures encompass an effort by Senator Wolk to improve water management, combat the effects of the drought and climate change and conserve valuable water supplies in California.

Law enforcement backed bill limits concealed weapons on school and college campuses
SACRAMENTO -- Legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to help control concealed weapons on school and college campuses passed the State Senate today on a 23-12 vote.  The measure, SB 707, would prohibit concealed weapons carriers from bringing their firearm on campus without permission from campus authorities. 

SB 367 recognizes the need for agricultural solutions to climate change
SACRAMENTO – A measure by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis), one of eleven bills that make up the Senate’s California Climate Leadership package secured passage from the Senate today on a bipartisan 33-2 vote. SB 367 ensures that California’s farmers have maximum opportunities to voluntarily reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by developing projects and on-farm practices that would also provide environmental and health benefits.
