Bill to Support Lactation in the Workplace for Working Women Passes the California State Assembly

Sacramento – Today, Senator Scott Wiener’s bill, Senate Bill 937, to guarantee that working mothers have access to lactation facilities in the workplace passed the Assembly with 50 votes. It now moves to the Senate for its final vote this week, and if passed will head to the Governor for his signature.

California Legislature Passes Senator Wiener’s Drug Co-Pay Bill to Extend Consumer Price Gouging Protections

Sacramento –  Today, the California Legislature passed Senator Scott Wiener’s Senate Bill 1021, which will keep out-of-pocket drug costs low for consumers by preserving and strengthening existing drug pricing protections. SB 1021 does this by extending drug co-pay limits and prescription drug pricing standards put in place in 2015 under a bill (AB 339) authored by Assemblymember Rich Gordon, which are currently set to expire at the end of 2019. SB 1021 also strengthens these protections, including by ensuring these pricing protections apply to HIV prevention drugs.

Assembly Approves Senator Wiener’s Bipartisan Bill to Allow Cities to Extend Nightlife Hours to 4 AM

Sacramento – Today the Assembly approved Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 905 to allow – but not require – cities to extend sales of alcohol at bars, nightclubs, and restaurants (but not liquor stores) to as late as 4 a.m.  The bill passed the Assembly with a vote of 46-14, and must now go back to the Senate for a concurrence vote. If passed will head to the Governor for his signature.

Assembly Passes Senator Wiener’s Bill to Expand Solar Energy Storage in California

August 29, 2018

Sacramento  Today, the Assembly passed a bill by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) to transform the California energy storage market and extend solar usage into the evening and night hours. SB 700 will provide customer rebates for installing energy storage systems, just as California once did for solar panels, by extending the critical Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) for five years past its current expiration date.

Senator Scott Wiener’s Bipartisan Bill to Strengthen Prevention and Early Intervention Mental Health Programs Passes the California Assembly

Sacramento –  Today, Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 1004, a bipartisan bill to expand effective prevention and early intervention programs for children, teenagers, young adults, and underserved individuals experiencing early signs of severe mental illness passed the California Assembly by a vote of 61-0. SB 1004 now heads to the Senate for its final vote.

Senate Passes Bill to Permit Safe Injection Sites in San Francisco

Sacramento—Today the California State Senate passed Assembly Bill 186, which allows San Francisco, pursuant to a 3-year pilot program, to implement safe injection sites. Senator Wiener’s Net Neutrality Bill Passes Out of its Final Committee and Advances to the Assembly Floor

Sacramento–  Today, Senate Bills 822 and 460, which enact the strongest net neutrality protections in the country, passed out of the Assembly Communications and Conveyance Committee. SB 822 now heads to the Assembly floor, and SB 460 heads to the Assembly Privacy Committee. SB 822 - which sets the net neutrality standards - is authored by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), and SB 460 is authored by Senator Kevin de Leon (D- Los Angeles).

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D- San Francisco) and Assemblymember Mark Levine (D- Marin County) teamed up with best-selling author and activist Jennifer Thompson to host an informational hearing in support of SB 923. SB 923 sets statewide eyewitness identification standards to help prevent misidentifications that lead to innocent people being convicted and actual perpetrators remaining free. Net Neutrality Bills Advance to Committee After Key 2/3 Procedural Vote
