Senator Wiener’s Bill to Improve How California Sets Local Housing Goals Passes Final Assembly Policy Committee

Sacramento  –  Today, Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) bill to fix California’s process for setting housing goals in all cities passed its final Assembly policy committee. Senate Bill 828 creates a more data-driven and less political Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) process, which sets the number of both affordable and market-rate units that every city in California needs to create every eight years.

Senator Wiener’s Gutted Net Neutrality Bill Moves Forward, Allowing Negotiations to Restore Protections to Continue

Sacramento–  Today the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee passed Senate Bill 822, which Senator Scott Wiener introduced to restore net neutrality in California. The version of SB 822 passed by committee today was on that had all the major protections removed from it last week in the Assembly Communications and Conveyance Committee.

Sacramento - Today, Senators Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles) announced that they are joining their respective net neutrality bills - SB 822 (Wiener) and SB 460 (de Leon) - to form one unified legislative effort to pass strong net neutrality protections in California. California Senate Approves Senator Wiener’s Bills on Net Neutrality, Housing, Conservatorship, Homeless Youth, Nightlife & Others

Sacramento–  This week the California State Senate passed 13 of Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) bills, including those to establish net neutrality in California, fix how California sets local housing goals, strengthen conservatorship laws to help people suffering on our streets, allow cities to choose to extend nightlife hours, and provide more support for homeless youth. Friday, June 1 is the deadline for any Senate bills to be passed out of the Senate.
