SACRAMENTO ­– Today, Senate Bill 2, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) and Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), was approved 28-9 during a final concurrence vote on the Senate Floor. Also known as the Kenneth Ross Jr. Police Decertification Act of 2021, SB 2 aims to increase accountability for law enforcement officers that commit serious misconduct and illegally violate a person’s civil rights.

Bradford Bill Returning Bruce’s Beach Sails Out of Senate Committee with Bipartisan Support

SACRAMENTO ­– Today, Senate Bill 796 passed out of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Water with strong bipartisan support. This bill, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), will allow the County of Los Angeles to return the beachfront property known as Bruce’s Beach to the descendants of Willa and Charles Bruce, from whom it was wrongfully taken in 1929.

California Cannabis Equity Program Provides Another $15 Million in Funding, continuing Senator Bradford’s Work on Cannabis Equity

SACRAMENTO – The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), in partnership with the Bureau of Cannabis Control, today announced $15 million in grant awards through the Cannabis Equity Grants Program for Local Jurisdictions. This program seeks to advance economic justice for populations and communities disproportionately affected by cannabis prohibition by providing funding to local jurisdictions that are committed to promoting equity in the legal cannabis marketplace and eliminating barriers to entering this industry.
