Pair of anti-coal measures pass separate reviews

SACRAMENTO – Two key Assembly policy committees today passed separate measures by Sen. Loni Hancock to halt plans that would allow Oakland to become the largest coal exporter on the West Coast and ensure that the state does not fund future coal exports.

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) and Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes (R-Yucca Valley) today announced an agreement on the landmark ‘No Place Like Home’ legislation (AB 1618/AB 1622) to provide $2 billion for the housing and treatment of mentally ill Californians who are homeless, releasing the following statements:

SACRAMENTO–State Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) issued the following statement today on yesterday’s ruling by the Sacramento Superior Court that the Delta Stewardship Council’s Delta Plan, the state’s management plan for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, is “invalid and must be set aside pending revisions.”

Ruling has potential to deny families access to healthcare

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina), chair of the Senate Health Committee, released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s deadlocked ruling in the U.S. v. Texas case. California allows immigrants granted deferred action to receive comprehensive Medi-Cal coverage. With this ruling, families will no longer be eligible for comprehensive Medi-Cal coverage that they would have received under President Obama’s plan.

SACRAMENTO–The Assembly Education Committee voted 7-0 today to approve legislation by State Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to protect students by allowing the involuntary transfer of pupils convicted of violent crimes such as felony battery, rape, kidnapping and attempted murder.
