PORTER RANCH, CA – Today Senator Henry Stern (D-Los Angeles) stood with community advocates to roll out a roadmap to close the Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Storage facility. As the CPUC contemplates the “feasibility” of closing Aliso Canyon as late as 2035, pursuant to a law (SB 380) Stern helped write back in 2015, the two-term state Senator for the San Fernando Valley pledged to introduce new follow-on legislation to drive the process forward, and bring the necessary investment and alignment needed to expedite closure next year.

San Fernando Valley Receives $4.2 Million from Historic State Investment in Local Parks

The San Fernando Valley is receiving millions of grant dollars along with more than 100 communities across the state as part of the largest-ever investment in local parks in California history. California State Parks awarded $4.2 million to the City of San Fernando’s Las Palmas Park Revitalization Project Wednesday.

The review comes following concerning allegations of excessive force, racist text messages, and discrimination. Senator Umberg and Assemblymember Daly Amend Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery Bill

(Sacramento, CA) – Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana) is debuting amendments to his Senate Bill (SB) 43, which pertains to the development of a Southern California Veterans Cemetery. SB 43, as introduced earlier this year, requires the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) to work with local government entities in Orange County to develop a long-discussed cemetery and memorial in the area.  Amendments debuted today will allow CalVet to conduct a feasibility study to also consider additional property currently being discussed in the City of Anaheim.
