LOS ANGELES ­– Yesterday, Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), partnering with the Los Angeles Southwest College Foundation and the Church of Latter-day Saints, distributed over one thousand turkeys, beef roasts, and gift cards to families in need.  Senator Bradford continued this annual tradition which he started in Gardena as a City Councilmember and then as a State Assemblymember.

It is believed that this is the first time a state or federal elected official has visited the region since the end of the 44-day war.

The Thanksgiving Turkey Drive took place on Monday, November 22nd at Pacific Park Picnic Shelters in Glendale.

Sacramento, Calif. – Senate Majority Whip Lena A. Gonzalez (D- Long Beach) today issued the following statement regarding the passing of Former Long Beach District 9 Councilman and Veterans’ Advocate, Val Lerch:

Senate Majority Leader Bob Hertzberg and homeless and animal welfare advocates announced $10 million in funding for pets of those experiencing homelessness Friday. The funding is part of the 2021 California state budget signed into law earlier this year.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today in response to a California Legislative Analyst Office report forecasting a $51 billion budget surplus in 2022 that will allow the state to build on its rainy-day fund while investing in critical areas such as reducing the effects of climate-driven wildfires and drought.
