Governor signs Wieckowski's autonomous vehicle bill

SACRAMENTO – California vehicles that are exclusively autonomous will no longer need to be equipped with windshield wipers, speedometers, mirrors and other parts under a bill authored by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) and signed today by Governor Gavin Newsom. SB 570, which was approved with bipartisan support by the Legislature, brings the vehicle code equipment list into the 21st century.

Governor Signs SB 16 to Expand and Strengthen Access to Police Records

California Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed SB 16, legislation by state Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, that expands public access to police misconduct records and strengthens communities’ ability to hold law enforcement agencies accountable. SB 16 opens access to records on officers who have engaged in biased or discriminatory behavior, conducted unlawful arrests or searches, or used force that is excessive or unreasonable.
