Sacramento, CA – As summer heats up and July 4th weekend is here, our communities are reminded that wildfire season is upon us. Next week, Senator Mike McGuire will hold a Telephone Town Hall on Wildfire Preparedness for Mendocino and Lake counties.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released the following statement regarding COVID-19, its impact on California’s prison population, and the transfer of incarcerated individuals into ICE detention facilities. SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today in response to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signing of Senate Bill 350, a measure that will hold Pacific Gas and Electric Co. accountable if it fails to adhere to public safety policies designed to prevent more  devastating wildfires.

Sacramento, CA – While an increasing number of public health officials receive threats to their safety and that of their family, and as eight public health officials in California have resigned or retired since mid-April, Dr. Richard Pan, pediatrician and State Senator, introduced SB 483 to keep the personal information of health officers confidential. 

SACRAMENTO ­– Today, Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) introduced two measures aimed at enacting significant police reform in the state of California: SB 731 and SB 203.

Sacramento- Governor Gavin Newsom signed the Budget Act of 2020.  This Budget is a joint effort from both houses and the Governor, taking into account the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our current economy. With this challenge at hand, the official 2020-2021 Budget aims to get California on solid footing as the state enters difficult economic times, all while prioritizing values and the most vulnerable populations.

Sacramento, CA – Last year, residents across Northern California endured multiple, sustained power shutoffs that put residents health and safety at risk, disrupted local economies and lacked oversight and planning. At one point, some Californians lost power for a total of 14 days in a one-month period.
