Sacramento, CA – Dr. Richard Pan, pediatrician and State Senator representing the Sacramento region and Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) introduced SB 275 today to ensure California is ready on day one of a pandemic or other public health crises with a strong stockpile of personal protective equipment (PPE) so our healthcare and other essential workers that we depend on don’t go unprotected like they did during the current pandemic. 

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement following news today that in a 5-to-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for now, which provides legal protections to youth brought to the U.S. as minors.

Sacramento - Five of Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) bills were approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee and will be taken up for a vote by the full Senate

The bills must be approved through a Senate floor vote by Friday, June 26th, after which they will move to the Assembly.

SB 855 - Mental Health Coverage

Sacramento - Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) issued the following statement regarding their legislation, SB 939, which did not pass the Senate Judiciary Committee today. If passed, SB 939 would have enacted a moratorium on commercial evictions – for small businesses and nonprofits – during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin) today released a statement on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Today’s Supreme Court decision is encouraging. I hope they continue to rule in favor of Dreamers, giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential and be productive citizens.

Sacramento - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released the following statement today, after the Supreme Court blocked President Trump from ending DACA, which protects undocumented people, brought to this country as children, from deportation.

El Segundo- State Senator Holly Mitchell, D-Los Angeles, is a member of the California Legislative Black Caucus, which was established in 1918 when Frederick Madison Roberts became the first Black person to be elected to the State Assembly. Sacramento, CA – The State of California has announced a $3 million investment in Homeward Bound of Marin’s homeless veterans housing project. With this funding - along with a commitment by the County of Marin for $2 million and the Marin Community Foundation for another $2 million - massive progress has been made to end veteran homelessness in Marin County by building a groundbreaking 50 unit housing community in the City of Novato.
