Senator Anna M. Caballero Announces the Passage of SB 1449 to Provide State Grants to Incentivize the Annexation of Disadvantaged Unincorporated Communities

Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) announces the passage of SB 1449 the Unincorporated Area Annexation Incentive Program out of the Senate Committee on Governance and Finance with unanimous bipartisan support. SB 1449 creates a state matching grant program for cities that are annexing unincorporated areas. This bill will help fund infrastructure costs associated with annexation including sewer connections, sidewalks, storm drains, and streetlights.

SACRAMENTO — State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) SB 897 to remove remaining barriers on the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) passed a key Senate committee today when Governance and Finance members unanimously approved the bill. The legislation now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee for its consideration.
