SACRAMENTO – Dr. Richard Pan, state senator representing the Sacramento region and Chair of the Senate Health Committee made the following statement regarding his decision to hold Senate Bill 871, the Keep Schools Open and Safe Act:

SAN FRANCISCO - SPUR announced the publication of its new report, Accelerating Sustainable Transportation in California: An analysis of Senate Bill 288 and recommendations to extend and improve the law. Senate Bill 288, authored by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and passed into law in 2020, accelerates sustainable transit and active transportation projects in urban areas of the state. 
 

Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) and Senator Wiener (D-San Francisco) have joint authored Senate Resolution 77 to proclaim Tuesday, April 12, 2022, as “Education and Sharing Day” in the State of California.

SACRAMENTO – To focus awareness on California’s world-renowned wines and its leadership in bringing sustainability to the state’s $57 billion wine industry, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, co-chair of the Senate Select Committee on Wine, today announced his proposal to designate the month of April as “California Wines: Down to Earth Month.”

Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) announces the passage of SB 1449 the Unincorporated Area Annexation Incentive Program out of the Senate Committee on Governance and Finance with unanimous bipartisan support. SB 1449 creates a state matching grant program for cities that are annexing unincorporated areas. This bill will help fund infrastructure costs associated with annexation including sewer connections, sidewalks, storm drains, and streetlights. 

CHICO – In recognition of his more than 20 years of leadership in state and local government as well as his success as a private business owner, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, a 1978 graduate of Chico State University’s College of Business, has received this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award from the university.

State Sen. Nancy Skinner, chair of the Senate Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, announced today the staff who will take on the leadership roles for the committee: Elisa Wynne is now staff director and Scott Ogus is deputy director. Both Wynne and Ogus are longtime staff for the Budget Committee. Previously, Wynne was the committee’s deputy director.

SACRAMENTO — State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s (D-Fremont) SB 897 to remove remaining barriers on the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) passed a key Senate committee today when Governance and Finance members unanimously approved the bill. The legislation now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee for its consideration.
