We will have available brochures and other materials on safety tips for parents and children for the Halloween holiday. Members of my district staff will also be on hand to answer constituent questions and listen to concerns you may have.

Sacramento, California – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) closed out the 2018 legislative session with a string of legislative successes and budget accomplishments.  He sent 18 bills to Governor Brown for action, having 15 signed into law.  As the Chair of Education Budget Sub-Committee 1 on Education Finance, he also achieved significant success through the adoption of the 2018-2019 State Budget. In addition, he authored 4 Resolutions that passed and were chaptered into the legislative record.

Senator Lara: Mandatory Checks of Prescription Drug Database Will Save Lives from Opioid Overuse

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) welcomed today’s implementation of mandatory checks of California’s prescription database, two years after Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 482.

Senator Lara authored SB 482 in 2016 to confront the over-prescription of opioids and other dangerous and addictive drugs. The law requires all prescribers issuing schedule II, III, and IV drugs to consult California’s Controlled Substance Utilizations Review and Evaluation System (CURES) before prescribing.
