(SACRAMENTO) – In the final days of this year’s legislative session, Governor Brown signed a bill by Senator Richard D. Roth that ensures greater accountability and transparency of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) lenders to cut out abusive practices. SB 1087 will soon take effect in California.

Governor Signs Bill Extending Time for Victims to Apply for Compensation

SACRAMENTO ­– On Sunday Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 1232 into law. This bill, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) and sponsored by Californians for Safety and Justice, increases the age of eligibility for a young person who has been a victim of a crime to apply for compensation from the California Victim Compensation Board.

Bradford Bill Increasing Employment Opportunities for the Rehabilitated Signed by the Governor

SACRAMENTO ­– On Sunday Governor Brown signed SB 1412 into law. The bill, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), clarifies what information employers may use when screening job applicants. SB 1412 continues the progress that the Legislature and Governor Brown began last year to provide formerly-incarcerated Californians with genuine opportunities to rebuild their lives.

Bill to Require Safety Training Standards for Truck Drivers Signed by the Governor

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) announced that Senate Bill (SB) 1236 has been signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.  The bill will improve road safety by implementing new federal commercial truck driving regulations, as well as adding additional truck driver safety requirements.

Portantino Targets Plastic Pollution in Ocean and Drinking Water – Gov. Brown Signs SB 1422 and SB 1263

Sacramento, California – Governor Jerry Brown recently signed SB 1422 and SB 1263 authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge.  These bills will help increase the knowledge of the risks of micro plastic materials and microfibers on the marine environment and in drinking water.  Micro plastics pose a potential threat to the public’s health as the levels of micro plastics in drinking water are not currently monitored and they are increasingly present in our ocean water.
