First reform bill by Sens. Mitchell and Lara takes effect Jan. 1, 2018 
SACRAMENTO – Today, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law the first in a package of criminal justice-reform bills seeking to improve public safety, save taxpayers money and put greater emphasis on prevention, rehabilitation and maintaining family cohesion.

Measures comprise package by Sens. Lara and Mitchell

SACRAMENTO – The Assembly Public Safety Committee today approved five criminal and juvenile justice reform bills to improve public safety, keep young people out of the juvenile justice system and end longstanding inequities in California’s juvenile and criminal justice systems.
