Burbank, CA - Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) was honored to attend the dedication ceremony for the “Michael and Anthony Portantino Suicide Prevention Library and Resource Center” at the Family Service Agency (FSA) in Burbank.

Burbank, CA - Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) joined the YMCA Youth in Government students for a robust conversation about public policy, behavioral health, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy. The Senator also presented a $100,000 check to the Burbank YMCA Social Impact Center.

Glendale, California – Along with Senator Susan Rubio, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) received the 2022 Housing Champion Award from the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments and National CORE. The Senator was honored for championing policies that promote affordable housing, specifically SB 1177, which established the Regional Housing Trust between the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena, and for garnering $23 million from the 2021-2022 State Budget to fund the housing trust projects.

Sacramento, CA - State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) was proud to announce that his budget request of $150,000 for the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition was approved in the 2022-2023 State Budget.  The funds will support services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

South Pasadena, CA -  This week Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) joined local elected officials from the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG), Arcadia, Montebello, San Marino, and South Pasadena to announce the launch of the San Gabriel Valley Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement (SGV CARE) program. During the press conference, Senator Portantino announced $850,000 in new funding that he secured from the 2022-2023 state budget for the mobile crisis response pilot program.

Portantino (D – Burbank) was named the 2022 Policymaker of the Year by the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU).   Senator Portantino received the honor during AICCU’s Annual Meeting.  He was recognized for his dedication and leadership to ensure that California’s diverse student population has access to affordable higher education.

Glendale, CA – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) recently met with well-known journalist and travel blogger Alexander Lapshin, who was extradited by Azerbaijan, sent to prison and tortured by the Azeri government for visiting Artsakh.   Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian joined the Senator for the meeting.

Glendale, CA – State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) met with Artsakh Foreign Minister Davit Babayan. The delegation also included Lernik Hovhannisyan, Artsakh Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and Robert Avetisyan, Artsakh Permanent Representative to the United States and Canada.  Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian, and representatives of the ANCA-WR were also in attendance.

Sacramento, CA - Senate Bill 1116, a measure introduced by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) which seeks to create a payroll fund to support small nonprofit performing arts venues (SNPAOs), was signed into law today by Governor Newsom.  The effort comes at a time when small community theatres are struggling in the aftermath of the pandemic.

Sacramento, CA – Governor Newsom has signed Senate Bill 230, an environmental protection measure authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – Burbank) that will improve drinking water by investigating contaminants known as Constituents of Emerging Concern (CECs).
