SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, the Assembly Judiciary Committee passed important legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) to establish legal protections for technology users when they receive unsolicited sexually explicit images and videos—known as ‘cyberflashing.’

Also known as the FLASH (Forbid Lewd Activity and Sexual Harassment) Act and sponsored by Bumble—the women-first dating and social networking app—SB 53 would create a private right of action against any person who knows or reasonably should know that the lewd image transmitted is unsolicited.

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), along with Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and Legislative colleagues, and in partnership with Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California and NARAL Pro-Choice California announced today that SCA 10 – an explicit constitutional right to abortion and contraceptives – has been introduced in the California State Senate.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ben Hueso honors San Diego-based House of Mexico as the 2022 California Nonprofit of the Year for Senate District 40.

Sacramento, CA - Senate Bill 457, authored by State Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) creates a rebate program for each person without a car in a household.  It is currently awaiting action in the Assembly.  The bill is aimed at reducing California’s dependence on cars, providing more incentives for walking and bicycling, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
