SACRAMENTO – Legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to help ensure the conservation of big game habitats in California through public-private partnerships with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, cleared a key committee today.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senate Bill 616, Piqui’s Law, by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park), which mandates judicial training to ensure a child’s safety in custody proceedings, will be heard on June 28 in the State Assembly Judiciary Committee.

SACRAMENTO – Now moving one step closer to becoming law, the Assembly Judiciary Committee today passed Senate Bill 1149 authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino), which would protect the public’s right to know the facts about dangerous public hazards that are discovered during litigation.

Sponsored jointly by Consumer Reports and Public Justice, SB 1149 would do the following:

SACRAMENTO — A bill by State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to transition California away from single-use, one-pound propane cylinders to refillables moved one step closer to approval as the Assembly Natural Resources Committee voted to support the legislation this afternoon. SB 1256 now heads to the Assembly Judiciary Committee.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) today released the following statement after the California State Senate passed the 2022-2023 state budget ahead of the constitutional deadline:

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to extend the gaming compacts of 29 California tribes, allowing the continued operation of casinos that support tribal development and provide jobs for thousands of workers statewide.

“I thank Gov. Newsom for signing this today,” Sen. Dodd said. “This extension allows tribes to continue along the path toward self-sufficiency and economic development. Also, it gives the state more time to negotiate long-term agreements that will benefit the state, employees and patrons.”
