California Boater Safety Cards Mandatory as of January 1, 2018

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senate Bill (SB) 941, authored by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) in 2014 will go into law on January 1, 2018.  The bill requires boaters to pass a boating education examination and obtain a vessel operator card in order to operate a motorized boat in California.  The California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DWB) is now accepting Boater Card applications.

Hertzberg Comments on Creek Fire Burning near Sylmar, Offers Evacuation Updates

VAN NUYS – Early this morning, a brush fire erupted shortly before 4 a.m. near Gold Creek and Little Tujunga roads in Sylmar. By mid-day, the fire had expanded to more than 11,000 acres with little to no containment. Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, has been in touch with Los Angeles fire and public safety officials, as well as local elected officials, to offer assistance and spread the word about evacuation orders and the latest news on the rapidly evolving situation.

Hertzberg Denounces U.S. Senate’s Passage of Disastrous Tax Reform Measure

SACRAMENTO – Last night, the United States Senate passed a tax reform measure after midnight on a vote of 51-49. The bill, if enacted into law, would consolidate the existing seven tax brackets, cut taxes on the wealthy, and eliminate a number of deductions that typically benefit low and middle income earners.
