INGLEWOOD – Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) gave away 1,100 free turkeys yesterday to students and families from Senate District 35, comprised of Carson, Compton, Inglewood, Lawndale, Torrance, and the surrounding communities. Senator Bradford, who is finishing his first year in the California State Senate, continued this tradition from when he served as a Gardena City Councilmember and State Assemblymember by providing turkeys so families in need can share a healthy and hearty holiday meal with loved ones. 

SACRAMENTO – Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) will hold a town hall on Thursday, Nov. 30 to examine the proposed WaterFix project and discuss related concerns, including recent findings by the State Auditor. The town hall will be held at the Jean Harvie Community Center, 14273 River Road, in Walnut Grove, from 10 am. to noon. Members of the public are invited to attend.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Holly J. Mitchell of Los Angeles, chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, released the following statement following budget forecasts by the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office:

“Fortunately, the Legislature and governor have positioned the state well with respect to its ability to withstand a mild or moderate recession,” Mitchell said. “This is an extremely positive position for the state budget.

SACRAMENTO ­– Senate District 35 was awarded over $11 million in funding for projects to transform community streets, walkways and parks into green spaces that improve air and water quality and provide greater opportunities for walking, biking and recreation. The local recipients of this critical funding are in the communities of Compton, Lynwood, South Gate, Watts and South Los Angeles.
