The 2017 Veterans Service Awards Honorees from the San Gabriel Valley are being recognized for their service and impact on our community

La Verne, CA – Today, State Senator Anthony J. Portantino had the privilege, along with the La Verne Chamber of Commerce and the University of La Verne Small Business Development Center, of hosting a Business Walk in Downtown La Verne.  The Senator met with business owners and community leaders to hear concerns and learn how he can best support local small businesses in his district.

Dear Governor Brown,

Two years ago today, the residents of the northern San Fernando Valley discovered what became the largest gas leak in US history in their own backyards.  Two years later we are faced with more questions than answers.  The precautionary principle militates towards the resumption of a moratorium on new gas injections and withdrawals until we have answered critical questions about ongoing health and safety risks.  More simply put: don’t start injecting until you finish inspecting.

“Today the state Senate announced the hiring of two independent firms in response to the reports of a pervasive culture of sexual harassment in the Capitol community.

SACRAMENTO – In response to recent attempts by the Trump Administration to bully NFL owners into firing athletes for speaking their minds while on the clock, as well as reports of potential threats to women courageously stepping forward in the workplace to share their personal experiences with sexual harassment and violence, California State Senator Henry Stern (D-Canoga Park) made the following announcement today:

Stakeholders on hand in support

LOS ANGELES – Sens. Ricardo Lara and Holly J. Mitchell today formally praised Gov. Brown and community members for supporting their #EquityAndJustice package to reform California’s juvenile and adult justice systems.

Along with Senate Bill 355, which Brown signed in July, the new laws comprise a #EquityAndJustice package authored jointly by Lara and Mitchell and introduced last March to promote crime prevention, rehabilitation and maintaining family cohesion.
