Senator Wiener’s Legislation to Expedite Sustainable Transportation Projects Passes Senate Environmental Quality Committee

SACRAMENTO - Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s Senate Bill 922 passed the Senate Environmental Quality Committee by a vote of 4-0 (final vote count is still pending). It will now head to the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB 922 extends and improves upon his previous legislation (SB 288, 2020) to expedite bike, pedestrian, light rail, and bus rapid transit projects by exempting these environmentally sustainable projects from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Portantino Bill Initiated by the Glendale Environmental Coalition to Tackle Waste Reduction in Schools Passes Senate Environmental Quality Committee

Sacramento, CA - Senate Bill 1255, a measure introduced by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge) which seeks to reduce waste in K–12 schools and community colleges, passed the Senate Environmental Committee today.  SB 1255 would establish a dishwasher grant program to address the state’s single-use trash and waste crisis.  The idea for the bill was brought to Senator Portantino during by members of the Glendale Environmental Coalition.

Senator Wiener and Assemblymember Ting’s Statement Opposing Limited Extension of Eviction Protections and Rent Relief

Senator Anna M. Caballero Introduces SB1410 to Support Housing Production & Prevent Unnecessary Regulatory Burdens

SACRAMENTO: Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) introduced SB 1410 which modifies the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) regulations to limit use to Transit Priority Areas (TPAs). In areas outside of TPAs, the traditional measurement of traffic impacts, Levels of Service, would be used to assess transportation impacts on the environment for projects subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review.

Leyva Bill Requiring Mobilehome Park Manager Training Passes Senate Housing Committee

March 24, 2022

SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, the Senate Housing Committee approved Senate Bill 869 by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that would require mobilehome park managers to be trained and certified on the mobilehome rules and regulations of managing mobilehome parks and manufactured home communities.  The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), in consultation with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, would be responsible for developing the training and enforcing the certification requirements.
