Sacramento – Senator Bob Wieckowski, the chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee, and the author of Senate Bill 775, a bill to improve California’s Cap and Trade system post-2020, made the following statement today.

“I agree with Governor Brown that the Legislature should take action to improve and extend Cap and Trade beyond 2020, building on what we have learned from the existing system and ensuring that we meet our greenhouse gas reduction goals set in last year’s SB 32.

Cap and Trade oversight hearing highlights need for SB 775

Sacramento – Building on the lessons learned under the current Cap and Trade system, California should extend the program beyond its 2020 expiration date to enable the state to meet its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, experts testified today in a Senate Environmental Quality Committee oversight hearing.

More than half of California's state and local roads are rated in poor condition, require safety improvements, and fail to meet earthquake safety standards. The Road Repair and Accountability Act makes sure that both state and local agencies have the resources they need to ensure California roads and bridges are up to safety standards.

Senator Hueso To Secure $2.1 Million to Take Immediate Action On Tijuana River Valley

San Diego, CA… Senator Ben Hueso today introduced a bill which will reallocate $2.1 million for the restoration and recovery efforts associated with the Tijuana River Valley (TJRV).   Senate Bill 507 will also update the priority action areas of the TJRV Recovery Strategy to determine the flow of wastewater and runoff and conduct a Tijuana River Main Channel Water Quality Protection Feasibility Study.
