SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) issued the following statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s May Revision of the 2020-2021 state budget:

"Together as elected officials and community leaders of Pomona, we find it inappropriate that any federal representative would issue a misguided and misinformed statement, adding unnecessary confusion while we are in the midst of a pandemic by incorrectly saying homeless individuals with coronavirus are being “dumped” at a facility in Pomona. Stoking fear in our community while attempting to generate media attention at the height of a public health crisis is morally reprehensible.

SACRAMENTO – In order to further California’s goal of providing an equal educational opportunity to students by prohibiting the use of public resources when a program discriminates based on gender, Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) today introduced SB 1308 that will allow the use of public resources in Sacramento for California Boys State only if California Girls State participants receive comparable treatment.
