Senator McGuire announces agreement to move groundbreaking medical marijuana legislation forward

Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg), the author of SB 643 – The Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act – announced that an agreement has been reached on historic medical marijuana legislation between Governor Brown’s office, the State Senate and State Assembly.
“After two decades of no regulation, I am pleased to report an agreement has been reached on one of the most comprehensive medical marijuana bills in the nation,” Senator McGuire said.

End of Life Option Act Passes Off of the Assembly Floor

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –Assembly Bill (AB) X2 15, coauthored by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel), passed  off the Assembly Floor with bipartisan support on a 43 to 34 vote.  Modeled after Senator Monning’s Senate Bill (SB) 128, this Second Extraordinary Session bill is an effort to pass the End of Life Option Act in California this year.

Day Care Center Worker Vaccination Bill Approved by State Assembly

Sacramento –The State Assembly today approved SB 792 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) on a bipartisan vote. The bill will protect California children in day care from contracting serious diseases by requiring family day care home and day care center workers and volunteers to be vaccinated against measles, pertussis, and influenza. The bill now goes back to the State Senate for a concurrence vote and then to Governor Brown for consideration.
