Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire led the charge on the Senate floor today to help speed up relief related to one of the worst commutes in the Bay Area. The bottleneck occurs on Highway 101 and Interstate 580 East, leading up to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
“This is one of the worst bottlenecks in the Bay Area and we need to expedite this common sense solution. We owe it to Marin commuters to have three lanes all the way on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge,” Senator McGuire said.

The California Senate today unanimously approved and sent to the governor legislation by state Sen. Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, that will increase access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by reducing liability concerns about the devices that are the most effective way to save heart attack victims.

Assembly committee turns SB 344 into two-year bill

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senate Bill (SB) 344, authored by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) to improve road safety by strengthening training requirements for commercial drivers, was held on suspense in the Assembly Appropriations Committee, making it a two-year bill and ending its chances of going to the Governor’s desk this year.

SACRAMENTO – The parade of California businesses supporting Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León’s climate-change measure, SB 350, continued Wednesday with the endorsement of a statewide network of micro-business development organizations.

SACRAMENTO – A public safety bill that has just been introduced is getting bipartisan support from Senate Republicans and Democrat Senator Cathleen Galgiani. Concerned about public safety, the new bill is in response to a loophole that allows dangerous felons who are in the country illegally to be released back onto California streets. Senate Bill 57 will fix the communication between local and state law enforcement so dangerous felons do not slip through the cracks.
