Butane Hash Oil & Methamphetamine Manufacturing Bill Headed to Governor Brown’s Desk

Sacramento-The State Senate gave final approval to SB 212 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) on a unanimous bipartisan vote of 36 to 0. The bill will address the proliferation of Butane Hash Oil (BHO) and methamphetamine manufacturing in residential neighborhoods by making it an aggravated felony to manufacture the drugs within close proximity to occupied residences and structures. The bill now goes to Governor Brown for his consideration.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate today approved a resolution by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) that urges the Legislature, Governor Brown, and the Obama Administration to consider the policy implications of the recently released Papal encyclical.

Governor Brown Signs Leyva Victim Restitution Bill

SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, Governor Jerry Brown signed important legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that will ensure that all victims of crimes committed by minors are eligible to receive due compensation.
Cosponsored by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and Crime Victims Action Alliance, SB 651 would expand the statutory definition of a ‘victim’ so that derivative victims—such as spouses, family members and housemates—will be eligible for compensation as a result of a crime committed against them by a minor.

Senator Richard D. Roth’s (D-Riverside) proposal to honor the lives and service of three local Medal of Honor recipients passed the California State Assembly on a bipartisan vote of 79-0.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 38 designates the portion of State Highway Route 91 in Riverside from Madison Street to 3rd Street as the “Staff Sergeant Salvador J. Lara, Staff Sergeant Ysmael R. Villegas and Sergeant Jesus S. Duran Memorial Highway.”
