SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, the Senate Environmental Quality Committee approved legislation that will provide technical assistance to small non-profits, disadvantaged communities and small businesses to access funding for energy efficiency upgrades or projects that reduce the negative health impacts of poor air quality.

SACRAMENTO – On a 4-1 vote, the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee today passed a measure by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León to strengthen California’s child care system and lift working women, who overwhelmingly provide the care, and their children out of poverty.

Vaccinations Required for Day Care Center Workers

Sacramento –The Senate Human Services Committee today approved SB 792 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) on a unanimous bipartisan vote. The bill will protect California children in day care from contracting serious diseases by requiring family day care home and day care center workers to be vaccinated against measles, pertussis, and influenza among others. The bill now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.

SACRAMENTO– Senate Bill 277 authored by Dr. Richard Pan, a pediatrician and Senator representing Sacramento and Senator Ben Allen, the former Board President of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District to boost vaccine rates by closing California’s vaccine exemption loophole, was passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee on a vote of 5 to 1.

SACRAMENTO – A plan by Sen. Bob Hertzberg to improve the ability of the working poor to reach their jobs today passed its first public review by the Senate Committee on Public Safety.
“We are criminalizing the poor and dramatically impacting their lives with punishments that far exceed their crimes by slamming them with excessive fines,” Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, said shortly before the unanimous, bipartisan vote in support of Senate Bill 405. “Then we take away their ability to get to work. We need to fix,”
