Upcoming Van Ness Street Closures
Over the next few months, portions of Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco will be closed to vehicles for three 72-hour periods. These planned street closures are due to construction activity for California Pacific Medical Center's new health care facilities.
During the planned closures, Van Ness Avenue will continue to serve MUNI and Golden Gate Transit bus routes and pedestrians along one side. There will also be limited access for local drivers. Detour signs will be posted to direct drivers to alternate routes.

Sacramento - The Senate Health Committee this week approved SB 476 authored by Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia), on a unanimous bipartisan vote of 9 to 0. The bill will protect the well-being of California’s children by ensuring that day camps in the state are held to the same high standards as resident camps where children stay overnight. The bill now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.

The bill now moves on to the Assembly.

SACRAMENTO – Following a measles outbreak that infected 147 people nationwide, a measure authored by Dr. Richard Pan, a pediatrician and Senator representing Sacramento and Senator Ben Allen, the former Board President of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District to abolish the personal belief exemption that currently allows parents to opt their child out of vaccines in our schools was passed by the Senate Health Committee today on a vote of 6 to 2.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) announces that the Senate Insurance Committee today passed important legislation that will substantially increase payments for past due child support claims through an insurance payment intercept program.

Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike McGuire’s critical legislation regulating Online Vacation Rental Businesses is advancing and the highly anticipated bill will proceed to the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee later this month.

SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, critical legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that will require testing of drinking water at schools in California to ensure water quality and safety passed from the Senate Education Committee with bipartisan support.  
Beyond the testing requirement, SB 334 would also require school districts to notify parents, staff and students of the water quality test results.  Moreover, where water issues are found, schools districts must ensure that their students have access to clean water.
