Senator Leyva will also continue serving as Democratic Caucus Chair of the California State Senate.

Senator Leyva Issues Statement On Governor’s Budget Proposal

SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) issued the following statement after Governor Jerry Brown introduced his 2017-18 budget proposal earlier today:
“From my initial review, I am cautiously optimistic about today’s budget proposal by Governor Jerry Brown.  As Vice Chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, I firmly believe that we must continue to strengthen the ability for families to feed, clothe, house, educate and protect their children and loved ones, as well as further bolster and invest in our state’s recovery and ongoing economic development.”

Senator Leyva Applauds Plan to Test Schools in California for Lead

SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) is pleased that—in response to Governor Jerry Brown’s veto message directive of Senate Bill 334 in 2015—the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) recently announced a new initiative that requires all community water systems to provide free lead water testing to school districts upon request.  Current law and testing procedures test water as it leaves the community water system and at the tap in individual homes to ensure cleanliness and safety, but there are no such statewide procedures for schools.
